Option 2 - Local Tech Meetup & Written Takeaways

I believe in the value of community, good writing and contributing to the knowledge loop.

This option is to attend a (local) technology meetup or build day that focuses on software systems and/or practices, and to publish a short reflection on your experience and key takeaways. Some examples of prior events:

Reach out to Michelle prior to attending any event to vet their potential usefulness. Any meetup not approved by Michelle will not be valid for bonus assignment submission and will receive a 0%.

You can attend and write as many posts as you want, but can only obtain up to 2% among all bonus assignments.

Requirements

• Attend a (local) technology meetup or build day that focuses on software systems and/or practices.
• Write a short reflection post on any publically accessible blogging platform or LinkedIn that is at least 200 words (~1 minute read)
• You must provide some personal reflection and insightful information
  • It does not need to be very technically deep, but should share your personal opinion(s) on the event, and key takeaways from attending.
  • Examples include emphasizing something new you learned, or a change/reinforcement in opinion you made after attending the event.
• Must use decent grammar and writing (I highly recommend using the free version of Grammarly)
  • If your submission is determined to need grammar updates, I will give you a chance to update it
• Must be submitted before the start of exams which you can find on the university’s website

Submission

You are to publish your reflection on any publically accessible blogging platform (can even be a personal blog if you have one set up!), and message Michelle on Slack. Failing to message Michelle on Slack before the due date will result in a 0% bonus.
